Website Visits Over Time

Analyze traffic volume and session activity

Visits over time report example

This graph displays the number of visits to your site over a time period of your choice. You can change the period by selecting a different date range using the calendar icon at the top of the page.

A visit (also called a session) begins when a visitor opens your site in a browser. It ends when that visitor (identified by an IP address or a browser cookie) has been inactive for more than 30 minutes.

If the same visitor returns after more than 30 minutes of inactivity, a new visit is counted. Short periods of inactivity (less than 30 minutes) are counted as part of the same visit.

The exact number of visits can be seen at the bottom of each bar or by hovering your mouse over the bar.

When viewing daily reports over a period longer than 60 days, a red line appears on the graph. This line represents the 28-day rolling average of daily visits. By smoothing out day-to-day fluctuations, it helps highlight longer-term traffic trends.
