Unique Website Visitors Over Time

Understand audience reach and growth trends

Unique visitors over time report example

A unique visitor is counted once per aggregation period (day, week, or month), even if that visitor returns to your site multiple times during that period. Visitors are identified using an IP address or a browser cookie.

For example:
  • In a daily report, the same visitor is counted only once per day.
  • In a monthly report, the same visitor is counted only once per month, regardless of how many visits they make during that month.
Note that a visitor using different devices or browsers may be counted as multiple unique visitors.

The exact number of unique visitors can be seen at the bottom of each bar or by hovering your mouse over the bar.

When viewing daily reports over a period longer than 60 days, a red line appears on the graph. This line represents the 28-day rolling average of daily visits. By smoothing out day-to-day fluctuations, it helps highlight longer-term traffic trends.
